The Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE) and energy efficient solutions major Danfoss India will focus on energy efficient buildings in healthcare and hospitality sectors this year, said a statement. The ISHRAE and Danfoss India selects and awards buildings that are energy efficient.
Acrex Hall of Fame was introduced by ISHRAE three years back. Concept behind this award is that buildings that outshine in certain aspects have to be recognized and brought to the outside world. We were wondering what logic can be considered for selecting a particular building. The parameters that we came out are Building Performance from Energy usage and Indoor Environmental Quality perspective. There are other awards in different platforms that are being given to buildings from the viewpoint of architectural aspects and landscaping features. But we generally don’t find these parameters – energy and indoor air quality – that are being considered for selecting the iconic buildings. But these are the parameters that make the buildings sustainable and bring value to the owners and occupants since they measure a buildings performance based on total cost of ownership and the unique and lasting experience which are the highest expectations. We are thankful to Danfoss for coming together and partnering us in this Hall of Fame Awards.
The Reliance corporate IT Park-Building 22, Navi Mumbai is the latest infrastructure project that was inducted into the ACREX Hall of Fame 2018 at the ACREX Expo that took place in Bangalore earlier this year.
The other energy efficient buildings there were inducted in to the ACREX Hall of Fame were the Chatrapathi Shivaji International Airport, Terminal 2, Mumbai in 2016 followed by the Infosys EC-53 (M&C Building), and Bangalore in 2017.
The criterion for evaluation include multiple parameters such as the heating, ventilation, air conditioning system Energy Performance Index (EPI), indoor air quality, light power density, water consumption and compliance with relevant codes\standards.
